ที่พบแห่งเดียวในโลก

และที่สำคัญคือ เป็นดอกไม้ป่าของไทย

ถิ่นกำเนิด : ประเทศไทย

ในโลกแห่งพฤกษศาสตร์ เชื่อกันว่า บรรดาพืชที่นับเป็นสิ่งมหัศจรรย์สุดยอดของโลกพฤกษศาสตร์ ไม่มีพืชชนิดไหนเกินหน้าพวก “ พืชกินแมลง “ หรือ Carnivorous Plant ไปได้

แต่ ก็ยังมีพวกที่แปลกประหลาดมากอีกพวกหนึ่ง ก็คือ พวกที่ออกดอกเป็นสีดำ และยังใช้ชีวิตอยู่ในความมืดเหมือนสัตว์เลี้ยงลูกด้วยนม ที่เรียกว่าค้างคาวเหมือนสามัญนามของเนระพูสีไทย พืชที่ต้องเจริญเติบโตและเคลื่อนไหวในความมืดมิดเช่นเดียวกับความเป็นอยู่ ของค้างคาวนั่นเอง

พูด ถึงค้างคาวแล้วต้องแทรกนิดนึงเพราะเกี่ยวเนื่องกันอยู่ในแง่ของชีวิต ที่คล้ายคลึงกันระหว่างสัตว์กับพืช ค้างคาวในโลกมีอยู่มากมายหลายพันธุ์ ตัวเล็ก ตัวใหญ่ โตขนาดน้องๆแม่ไก่ก็มี บางอย่างกินผลไม้ บางอย่างกินเนื้อสัตว์ บางอย่างก็ดูดเลือดสัตว์อื่นกินเป็นอาหาร เช่นค้างคาวผี หรือค้างคาวแวมไพร์

บางพวกที่มีขนาดเล็กมาก เล็กเท่า แมลงภู่ ส่วนมากมักจะดูดน้ำหวานในดอกไม้กินเป็นอาหาร เรียกว่า “ค้างคาวดอกไม้” ค้างคาวตัวเล็กที่สุด ในโลก พบในครั้งแรกในเมืองไทย และอาจมีอยู่ในโลกเพียงแห่งเดียว คือที่ น้ำตกไทรโยค จังหวัด กาญจนบุรี ผู้ที่ค้นพบค้างคาวดอกไม้ตัวนี้คือ นายกิติ ทองลงยา นักสัตวศาสตร์ของไทย ผู้ซึ่งค้นพบ “นกเจ้าฟ้าหญิงสิรินธร” ( Pseudochelidon sirintarae) เมื่อปี พ.ศ. ๒๕๑๑

ต่อมาในปี พ.ศ. ๒๕๑๖นายกิติทองลงยา ก็พบค้างคาวดอกไม้ตัวที่เล็กที่สุดในโลก ซึ่งเรียกกันในปัจจุบันว่า “ค้างคาวคุณกิติ” และได้ชื่อเป็นเกียรติแก่ผู้ค้นพบในพากย์ละตินว่า Craseonycteris thonglongyai หรือ “ค้างคาวทองลงยา”

การเปรียบเทียบให้เห็นความคล้ายคลึงกันของพืชและสัตว์

ระหว่างสัตว์ ค้างคาวดอกไม้( Flower Bat ) กับ พืชดอกไม้ค้างคาว ( Bat Flower )

และพวกพ้องของเนระพูสีไทย ในด้านต่างๆโดยเรียบเรียงได้ดังนี้

ที่ อยู่อาศัย ดอกไม้ค้างคาวและเนระพูสีไทย เกิดและอาศัยอยู่ในป่าดงดิบชื้น ตามหุบเหวลึก หรือบนพื้นดินที่ปกคลุมด้วยต้นไม้หนาแน่นเหมือนดอกไม้ค้างคาวที่อาศัยหลบ ซ่อนตัวในที่มืดมิดตามถ้ำ หน้าผาสูงและหุบเหวลึกและในไร่สวนที่มีพุ่มไม้หนาแน่น

ลักษณะ การพักนอน เนระพูสีไทยหรือดอกไม้ค้างคาวพวกนี้ จะมีก้านดอกชูขึ้นเหนือพื้นดิน ราว 1 ฟุตดอกออกเป็นช่อที่ปลายก้านดอก ดอกจะบานในเวลากลางคืนและบานช้ามาก เมื่อใกล้รุ่งจะชะงักการบานไว้ กว่าจะบานเต็มที่จนครบขบวนการบานต้องใช้เวลานานตั้งแต่ 7-10 คืนทีเดียว เพราะบานได้ทีละนิดเดียวเหมือนค้างคาวดอกไม้ที่ใกล้รุ่งต้องกลับรังนอน

ลักษณะ การพักนอน ดอกค้างคาวจะพักนอนทันทีเมื่อใกล้รุ่ง ปล่อยให้ดอกและเกสรที่ยาวเฟื้อยงุ้มลงสู่ดิน เหมือนการพักนอนของค้างคาวดอกไม้ ที่ห้อยหัวลงสู่ดิน

กลิ่น อันไม่น่าพิสมัยของดอกไม้ค้างคาวมีกลิ่นเหม็นสาบหืนๆคล้ายกลิ่นสาบตามถ้ำหรือถิ่นที่มีค้างคาวอาศัย

สี ดอกไม้ค้างคาวหรือเนระพูสีไทย เป็นดอกไม้สีดำพวกเดียวในโลก และพบในเมืองไทย สีออกไปทางดำคล้ำเหมือนสีค้างคาวนั่นเอง

ความ เชื่อ คนจีนโบราณเชื่อว่าค้างคาวดอกไม้เป็นสัตว์แห่งโชคลาภ ซึ่งสามารถจะนำความสำเร็จมาสู่มนุษย์ได้หากมันได้เข้าไปอาศัยในเขตบ้านชาน เรือน

ส่วนชาวไทยโบราณบางกลุ่ม

เชื่อว่า ต้นเนระพูสีไทย หรือดอกไม้ค้างคาวนี้ คือ ว่านพังพอน ที่สามารถส่งเสียงร้องได้เหมือนเสียงนกในคืน๑๕ค่ำ แต่เมื่อใครได้ยินเสียงร้องนี้ให้ถือว่าเป็นลางร้าย บอกให้เจ้าของว่านระมัดระวังตัวเพราะจะมีเคราะห์ร้าย ต้องรีบไปทำพิธีเสดาะ เคราะห์ ความเชื่อเรื่องนี้ท่านนักเลงว่านรุ่นผู้เฒ่าในภาคใต้หลายจังหวัดที่เชื่อ กันว่า ว่านพังพอนหรือเนระพูสีไทยต้นนี้ร้องได้อยู่ (เป็นเกร็ดความเชื่อ )

ลักษณะ ของเนระพูสีไทย มีหัวใต้ดิน ต้นสูง40-70 ซม.ใบเดี่ยวสีเขียวเข้ม แผ่นใบรูปขอบขนานแกมรูปหอก กว้าง7-15 ซม. ยาว20-60 ซม. ดอกสีม่วงดำ ออกเป็นช่อยาวจากโคนกอ 6ดอกต่อช่อ ก้านช่อดอกยาวประมาณ30-50ซม.กลีบดอกมีชั้นเดียว 6กลีบ โคนเชื่อมติดกัน พบในป่าดงดิบทั่วประเทศตั้งแต่ระดับความสูง500-1,000เมตร

ว่านพังพอน หรือ นิลพูสี ( Tacca integrifolia Ker-Gawl)

ชื่ออื่น : ฤาษีลม, ม่านแผลน

มี หัวใต้ดิน สูงได้ถึง1เมตร ใบเดี่ยวสีเขียวเข้ม แผ่นใบรูปขอบขนานแกมใบหอก กว้าง7-17ซม.ยาว20-60ซม.ดอกสีม่วงดำออกเป็นช่อยาวจากโคนกอ 6ดอกต่อช่อ ก้านช่อดอกยาวได้ถึง60ซม.กลีบดอก3กลีบรูปรีแกมรูปขอบขนานหรือรูปไข่กลับขนาด กว้าง5-15มม ยาว5-16มม.เกสรผู้สีเหลืองแกมเขียว พบในป่าดงดิบในที่ราบทางภาคเหนือและภาคใต้

เนระพูสีไทย เป็นพันธุ์ไม้ป่าเมืองไทยที่มีดอกสีดำ และเกิดกระจายพันธุ์อยู่ในป่าลึก เท่าที่สำรวจพบแล้ว พบ ๕ พันธุ์ (Species ) คือ

เนระพูสีไทย (Tacca chantrieri)

ว่านพังพอน ( Tacca integrifolia )

คดดิน ( Tacca palmate )

สิงโตดำ ( Tacca Teontopetaloides )

หนวดเสือ (Tacca plantaginea)

เนระพูสี ไทย พบมากตามป่าดงดิบตามหุบเขาในภาคใต้ ลำต้นอยู่ใต้ดินเจริญตามแนวราบมีลักษณะเป็นหัวหรือเหง้า หัวหรือเง่านี้คล้ายหัวข่า แต่ไม่แตกแง่งหรือแยกแขนงอย่างหัวข่า เนื้อเยื่อของเง่าแกร่งกว่าหัวข่ามาก เคยเอามาปลูกไว้หลายปีมาแล้ว ซุกเอาไว้ในที่มืด ๆได้ยินกิติศัพท์ความสำคัญ ก็อยากได้ บังเอิญได้มาแต่เลี้ยงไม่เป็น เห็นอยู่ในที่มืดนานกลัวตาย ยกมาออกแดดซะหน่อย ปรากฏว่าใบไหม้หมด มาเห็นคิดว่าขาดน้ำ รดน้ำซ้ำเข้าไปอีก แถมใส่ปุ๋ย16-16-16ให้ด้วยความหวังดี เลยเสร็จ เละเลย

พืช พันธุ์นี้ ขยายพันธุ์ได้ 2วิธี คือ เพาะเมล็ด หรือขุดเง่ามาทอนเป็นท่อนๆแล้วนำไปชำในที่ชุ่มชื้น และต้องอยู่ในที่มืด ออกดอกในฤดูหนาว และต้องอยู่ในที่มืดด้วย ชอบปุ๋ยอินทรีย์ เกลียดปุ๋ยวิทยาศาสตร์ที่สุด
